My Adventures In Canada

It was pitch black outside but everything around me was surrounded with joy and happiness. The day I had been waiting for my whole life had finally come. It was just a little longer and I would be to my destination. The trip of a lifetime was about to come true. My cousin and I had always wanted to go to a place in which we would be able to make our own choices, our own decisions. Since we were little kids we have always been covered in protective shields by our parents. They wouldn’t let us go anywhere alone because well that’s how parents think, I guess. But finally our parents had accepted the truth. They had realized that we had grown up and that they had to let us go. Going on a trip alone, without our parents, was scary at first but was also really exciting. No matter what, we couldn’t back down now.

As we stepped out of the plane, it seemed as if we were in a totally new world. No guiding hands to help us out, no concern looks to make sure we were okay. It was just us going out into the world and being responsible young adults. Getting our luggage wasn’t a hassle but finding the man taking us to our hotel was. After an hour of looking for him, we finally saw our names on a board and the person holding it. He was an old man, probably in his late fifties. He was very nice and helping. I think he could tell that this was our first time traveling alone. He took our luggage and then told us about our hotel and how it was. Fortunately, it was one of the best hotels in Canada and we had booked us the master suite. As we entered the suite, a whiff of lavender and vanilla mixed together hit us. The room was gigantic and it looked very comforting and safe. It had light brown walls with beautiful paintings all around. After getting accustomed to our room and unpacking our luggage, my cousin and I decided to take a stroll around the city.

Unlike our hometown everything was so bright and lively. We had always wanted to live in a place like this. The first place we decided to go was a famous clothing store. It had all sorts of clothes, for all personalities and people. It was amazing. As we left the store, we suddenly saw a flash of bright lights. It was the Niagara Falls and it was incredibly beautiful. People scattered around the railings to see the beauty of the falls. We might have stood there for more than an hour, until we had realized how late it was getting. It was near midnight. We knew we had to get back to our hotel but neither one of us wanted to leave. We wanted to stay and watch the water falling all night. So we did, but from our balcony in the room. That night we had talked all night about the startling atmosphere and the new things we had gotten to experience. It was truly remarkable. I know we should have been getting our sleep but instead we decided to go downstairs and sit in the lobby. Everyone stared at us like we were some sort of weirdo drunks that had gotten lost to, who knows where. We were asked many times by the hotel staff if we would like anything or if we would want some help. We felt like royalty. It was way past twelve but astonishingly we weren’t a tad bit tired. It was probably because of the excitement or the three or four coca colas that we had to drink. Whatever it was, it was great. However this was only the first day of our dream trip. We had many days to come and we were looking forward to it. The next day was yet to come.

We woke up late in the afternoon, well past twelve. We knew there was an amazing day awaiting us and we were really excited. We got dressed, a little more than usual, and decided to first take a stop at our favorite coffee shop, Starbucks. We might have sat there for more than an hour, when suddenly we saw the most amazing thing. It looked startling and thrilling at the same time. Soon we realized it was a wax museum with a 3D theater right next to it. It already looked remarkable from far away, so instead of wasting any more time, my cousin and I decided to take a look around. We asked around and received many opinions from people on how much they enjoyed the museum. All the people we asked said it was breathtaking. We were ready to go and see the beauty. As we bought our tickets, butterflies were going through my stomach. I was captivated by the thought.

As we entered the museum, thee guide who was leading us began to talk about when the museum was built and how many wax made stars and objects were in thus very place. There were many wax statues off people like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Aishwariya Rai, and even Hitler. The statues looked so realistic and accurate. We might have taken a picture with every waxed statue there. As we walked around and looked some more we soon realized that it had been two hours. We were getting late. We had to catch a night tour bus around the city. As we ran out the door toward the exit, I almost fell, but was saved by the railing. Thank goodness. We ran for the bus stop and got our tickets ready for the bus ride. But then we realized that the bus was about to leave. It began moving slowly but thankfully we had gotten there. The bus driver stopped and let us in. We were relieved that we hadn’t missed the most amazing part of the day. It was near seven thirty, when the tour actually began. We passed by many churches and museums, that I don’t really remember the names to. I was too busy looking at the lights and sparkling lights. I was awed by the cozy atmosphere. Finally we had stopped to look at my favorite part of the trip. I was again awakened by the beautiful Niagara Falls. No matter how many times I saw the falls, I seemed to never get tired of them. I wasn’t even close to bored. We only stopped for ten minutes, until we had to get back on the bus again. I was a little disappointed but was also excited for the other monuments and sites I would get to see and experience. We went past many historical parks and statues of famous leaders. It was all so fascinating and interesting to listen and look at. The night tour lasted for about an hour. We were dropped off at the bus stop again. I really didn’t want to go home, so instead we decided to go eat at this Italian restaurant. As we went in we were given a table for two. The restaurant was lightly lit, with a fresh aroma to it. The atmosphere around us was calm and soothing after such a long day. This was a great way to end our day to such a fabulous day. This day was more than we had expected. I felt very responsible and in charge of things for the first time in my life. I knew it was getting late so my cousin and I decided to go back to the hotel.

As we went up to our room, I thought about all the things we could get to do and experience tomorrow. We thought of going snorkeling, rafting and maybe even a hot air balloon ride around the city. We still had many days left in our dream trip. It was way more than I had ever expected and I to be honest I was more than happy, I felt free to go wherever I wanted without any restrictions or curfews. My cousin was a little scared at first to be alone in a city, we knew nothing about, but she was now accustomed to the place, and from the look on her face I knew she was having a lot of fun. Well, anyways we had to get some sleep to be ready for tomorrow’s adventure.

The next morning wasn’t like any other ordinary day. There was a white blanket covering the city of Toronto. The wind was blowing rapidly and snowflakes were falling from the blue sky. I could feel the air come against my face as I was standing in the balcony. I felt in such peace and harmony with myself and my surroundings. It looked so beautiful. I felt as if I was in paradise with no one except me and this amazing atmosphere. While I was still admiring the city’s beauty, I suddenly heard my cousin waking up. Finally she had woken up, and we were ready to go tour the snow filled city.

We went to eat breakfast at this amazing buffet, which served all sorts of food. The service was amazing as well as the atmosphere. The place had a cozy feeling to it, which made the food taste even better. After eating a full breakfast, it was time to go to the biggest mall in Toronto. It was said to be really big and had many stores that my cousin and I hadn’t even heard of. As we entered the mall, we had to keep from screaming the words “Wow.” First we went to our favorite place to shop, which was Levis. We found a lot of jackets, jeans and shirts, which we all bought. They were all so pretty that we couldn’t really choose which ones we wanted. After another three hours of shopping around, we realized we had to eat somewhere for lunch. Instead of eating at a fancy restaurant, we just decided to eat at Burger King. While were eating we realized that we had to catch a train. It would take us around the city and some of the mountains covering the area in Toronto. We had only thirty minutes to get to the railway or we would miss such an amazing opportunity. We ran like the wind and luckily found a taxi fairly quickly. We gave the driver the address and we were on the way. I kept looking at my watch making sure we would get there on time. We had only ten more minutes left until the train would leave the station. We had to get there. When we finally got there we realized we had to walk for a couple minutes to actually get to the railway. Obviously, now that we had already gotten so late, we had to run as if were running in the marathon. We ran and ran, until we had finally gotten there. However, when we got to the station we saw that the train had already begun to move. But instead of giving up we still chased it and thankfully one of the doors to get in the train was still open. We took a chance, and yes we had made it. That was a close one. When we took our seats, a man began speaking about the geographical features of the mountains and how long they have been forming. As I looked out the window everything looked so magnificent and new. The snow and the ice just made look even more like a dream. I couldn’t keep my eyes off the view. I wasn’t really listening to what the man was saying because I was too busy gawking outside the window. I saw many small mammals, such as squirrels, raccoons, ect. Finally we were on top of the mountain. We were so high up from the ground, that it felt like I couldn’t breathe. However, I got use to the air pressure and was enjoying myself more than ever. It was freezing. It was good that I had worn warm clothes this morning, or I would literally have died with hypothermia. The place where we had stopped had a little café in the middle of the bushes. The café was tiny, but when we went inside it felt so warm and safe. We ordered some coffee ad cake and ate while we talked more about the mountains and what we saw. Sadly, it was time to go back down. I was a little disappointed but not for long.

We were off the train and were on our way back to our hotel. It was a tiring but fun filled day. This day was really fun and I would never forget it. I was in wonderland and I never wanted to leave. However, I knew that sooner or later I would have to leave and go back home.
